Bro. Larry Washburn is the Minister of Education and Administration at First Baptist Church and has been in that position since August of 2005. Bro. Larry has been a member of First Baptist Church prior to coming on staff. He has been married to his wife since 1974 and have three adult children. Bro. Larry was saved and baptized at Elkdale Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama in 1963. Bro. Larry surrendered to vocational ministry in 1984 at First Baptist Church, Martin. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at First Baptist Church, Martin in 2007.
Bro. Larry is a 1971 graduate of Westview High School, Martin, Tennessee. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Tennessee at Martin (1976) and his Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas (1986). He has done additional course work in Accounting and additional course work in Theological studies.
Bro. Larry has participated in associational ministries serving on the Director of Missions Search Committee, Budget Planning Committee and the Missions Development Council. Bro. Larry has participated in mission trips to Mexico and has led disaster relief mission trips to the Gulf Coast. He has served in multiple capacities in lay leadership here at First Baptist Church before coming on staff.
Bro. Larry loves serving the Lord and His people, and he does a great job. He enjoys spending time with his family. Bro. Larry serves the Lord in many ways from teaching the little children of Christian Wee Learn a bible story (THEY LOVE HIM!) to making sure all educational ministries of the church get done properly. He has a BIG heart and FBC is blessed to have his expertise and ministering heart here.
