Some History of First Baptist Church

"In September, 1876, there met together seven men and seven women for the purpose of organizing the First Baptist Church of Martin, Tennessee.

"In sixty years the church came from an enrollment of 14 to 602.  She (the church) came from the trees as her covering to the present building which covers more than one-fifth acre of ground." - History of The First Baptist Church read by Musa L. Hall at the FBC Homecoming on July 19th, 1936.

Today, with a resident church membership of almost 1400, we are continuing our growing tradition.  Our current church facilities, including parking, span approximately 6 acres.

Our 75,000 square foot facility includes 50 Sunday School classes, a fellowship hall with kitchen facilities, state-of-the-art nursery suite, playground, parlor, bride's room, music suite, media library and much more.

Our current sanctuary was built in 1905.  Its distinctive architectural design is a blend of function and beauty.
