what to expect

Welcome to FBC Martin!

Perhaps you are re-engaging with church or attending church for the very first time. Perhaps you're an active church member who just moved to our town. Whatever your situation, we want to help with some of your questions before you visit Martin's First Baptist Church. Here's our attempt to guess what's on your mind and answer some of your questions. If we've missed something, let us know! You're probably not the only one with that question, so asking us will help us help you and our future guests.

We want your experience at FBC Martin to be a great experience. Please give us that opportunity. We would also like to hear from you of how we can better ourselves to make certain that FBC Martin guests like you always feel welcomed and right at home. Please contact us with your suggestions, comments, or praise by clicking here. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to minister to you. We hope to see you soon!

What are your worship services like?

Corporate worship at FBC Martin is the pinnacle of all we do. These gatherings are celebrative and free. We meet together on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. for Traditional Worship (using traditional songs and hymns of our historic past as well as familiar choruses and modern day songs led by the FBC Martin Worship Choir) and 11:00 a.m. for Contemporary Worship (using modern, contemporary songs led by a full band and praise team and on occasion, video and dramatic skits). Our Sunday evening worship service, a blended mixture of both traditional and contemporary, is a casual and relaxed gathering time beginning each week at 6:00 p.m. Ron Graves, Minister of Music & Worship at FBC Martin, leads our praise and worship times. Our Senior Pastor, Dr. Mike Sams, brings a dynamic, relevant, and inspiring message that is the high point and central focus of our corporate times together. A time of response always follows the message. In addition to our corporate worship, Life Groups meet together on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. For more information about our Life Groups and Sunday School classes,  click here

What should I wear?

You'll see people in everything from suits to casual attire on Sundays. Our concern isn't what's on the outside, but what's on the inside. Dress modestly, but come as you are. Jesus accepts us that way when we come to Him. Why shouldn't we?

Is there anything for my kids?

Of course! We have Sunday options for newborns through high school seniors, including special times of worship designed just for the younger kids. Childcare services are also available for children ages birth through Pre-K. Guest services will be happy to give you additional information on these ministries and personally escort you to their meeting locations.

How will I find my way around?

Visit one of our Information Centers, located in the Main Lobby outside the Worship Center. A representative can show you a listing of Small Group Bible Studies. They will be happy to help you find the right group for you. Our goal is to get every guest and member associated with a small group, so believe us...we'll go out of our way to help you get connected! Our representatives would love to help with directions and even walk with you to your destination.

In the church I grew up in, some people had "their" seats. What if I unknowingly sit in somebody's seat?

Don't worry about it. Sit wherever you would like. Nobody has a claim on a seat. We are just glad that you are our guest.

parking information

Guests: For your convenience, we have designated guest parking in the north parking area adjacent to our worship center's East-Lobby entrance. Simply follow the visitor parking signs as you enter our campus.

Members: Both designated and non-designated parking is available on all sides of our campus.

In addition, various businesses, banks, etc. (Simmons & First Citizens) have graciously allowed us to use their parking facilities on Sundays. Please be sensitive to the 7 day, 24 hour services they offer to our community. Please do not park in or block drive-thru lanes, ATMS, or Night Deposit access.
